Compare the strings with what you wrote down or copy/pasted in the text file. Then enter the command: md5sum, for the two files. Type ls to see the two files you downloaded.
Open terminal window and navigate to the Download folder. Write them down or copy/paste into a text file or whatever. Click them and you'll see the numbers for the two files you downloaded. Now, there are md5 checksums for the two files at the bottom of the page. Then download the manual called userg_revI_e.pdf. By default they'll go in your Download folder. (These are newbie instruction from a newbie.) Here's where to get the download: Follow the links and answer all the questions for the Perfection V300 scanner. Problem solved ! I managed to successfully install the iscan drivers for my Epson Perfection V300 scanner.
And I feel like I could take the time to learn what I need but the peripherals need to work or I can't use it. Not having to purchase yearly subscriptions to several types of malware checking/removal software etc. I'd like to use Fedora because of the security. But there's so many procedures out there that just don't work and when you follow someone else's directions and the process fails, you don't know how to figure it out.
I found those two lines after looking around for days. Example: How to get Adobe Flash working on Fedora 10. And there's a great deal of mis-information too. The folks who get help though, don't put much feedback up on their posts. There appear to be solutions I think to many of the problems of getting hardware to work in Fedora.
Going to Google but everything is framented so much it's hard to get much help. I thought I'd get the expertise here but I guess not. I think the two files up there are what's needed to get my scanner working, but I don't know/understand the process. Oh well, that site in Japan appears not to allow you to link past their index page.
